7th Grader Gives Her Teacher a Lesson On Religious Freedom
Jordan Wooley’s mother complained to the school and Jordan testified before the school board
School in Katy, Texas. She revealed that students were required to identify a list of statements as being fact or opinion or myth.
The list of statements included “There is a God.”
Wooley says she answered the statement by saying that it was both fact and opinion, depending on one’s faith. When students answered that God is real the teacher insisted that their answer was wrong. The teacher said that the correct answer was “commonplace assertion” and that “God isn’t real.”
The school has not commented on whether the teacher would be reprimanded or fired.
The assignment has been pulled.
